Abhinyana - a British Buddhist Monk

The Rev. Vincent Nguyen An Ninh - Former Pres. of the Clergy & Vietnamese Catholic Federation

To Whom It May Concern:

abihinyana

Having just become aware of the FPF, I would like to offer my humble moral support to Tuan Nguyen in his work for the Forgotten People of Vietnam. There is so much that could and should be done, and the more people doing it the better, as Vietnam does not have the benefits of a welfare-system, such as the one I grew up with and continue to live with.

Tuan and I met while I was still in the Bataan Refugee Camp in Philippines in 1984. We had no contact after that until we met again in Portland, Oregon in 2001. I came to see how whole-heartedly he throws himself into things, and in this, as in everything, I wish him the Greatest Success. We do not live by and for ourselves alone, but only as part of something infinitely bigger than ourselves, and it is by reaching out to others that we begin to find ourselves.

Sincerely,
Abhinyana

I WAS HUNGRY

Image“I was hungry and you fed me, thirsty, and you give me a drink; I was a stranger and you received me in your home, naked and you clothed me; I was sick and you took care of me, in prison and you visited me.” The righteous asked "Lord, when did I see you hungry, thirsty, naked, sick, in prison, and helped you???” Jesus replied  “I tell you, whenever you did this for one of 'the least important' of these brothers of mine, you did id for me” ( Mt. 25: 35-40).

The “least important” ones (of Jesus) are the unprivileged, the unknown, the unwanted and the most humiliated, most desperate ones, are the FORGOTTEN ones, on earth!

The world knew of Viet Nam by NGO DINH DIEM CONFUSIUS AUTOCRACY RULING, HO CHI MINH WITH DIEN BIEN PHU VICTORY,  the infamous VIETNAM WAR,  the post-war dictatorial and corrupted regime, the careful openness for Free-Market aspiration, but nothing about millions of ‘FORGOTTEN men and women” of this beautiful country and hospitable people.

God’s blessing! Some prominent “American Viet Kieu” such as Mr. Tuan Nguyen, Mrs. Kieu My Duyen Nguyen and friends, advised and  assisted  by Prof. Jerry Braza – a great silent friend of Vietnamese, with Associates,  had created a charitable organization called FORGOTTEN PEOPLE FOUNDATION. The purpose is clearly self-explanatory.

The initiate inspiration came from their recent “providential” meeting with the Most Reverend Joseph Maria Nguyen Quang Tuyen, Bishop of Bac Ninh, North of Viet Nam, when this Prelate shared with them  his concerns for the most forgotten people in the high lands and remote areas of his diocese territory.

As a Vietnamese, a Catholic priest, a “boat people,” I am so grateful to these people of good hearts and of great mind, who had dedicated their times, their talents, their resources for theses noble efforts.

I fervently pray that God, the Merciful Father, give His countless Blessing to those who are and will support the wonderful humanitarian tasks of this organization – THE FORGOTTEN PEOPLE FOUNDATION.
